Recipe Contest Kicks Off Today In Search Of California Firefighters' Best Cookies

12 Winners to Be Selected and Featured in Charitable 2006 Milk & Cookies Calendar

(February 2, 2005) California is home to more than 32,000 professional firefighting heroes and leads the nation in milk production each year. How are these two precious state resources connected? By cookies, of course!

The California Milk Advisory Board (CMAB) is challenging firefighters to round up their oven mitts (and 1/2 cup of butter) and put their best original cookie recipes to the test. Winners will be featured in the 2006 Milk & Cookies Calendar; however, there's an even tastier incentive added for the first time this year. Each of the 12 winners' fire stations will be rewarded with a year's supply of ice cream for their firehouse freezers.

This is the third year that the CMAB has teamed up with the California Professional Firefighters for the annual Milk & Cookies program. The 2004 and 2005 calendars together have raised nearly $20,000 for the California Fire Foundation which created the California Firefighters Memorial and assists families of fallen firefighters.

The recipe contest is open to all active firefighters in California. Additional information, including past recipes and winners, is available in the California Dairy Press Room at www.RealCaliforniaCheese.com. For an official entry form and a complete list of contest rules, go to www.memorial.cpf.org. The entry deadline is May 2, 2005.
