Survey Reveals #TeamSweet and #TeamSalty Evenly Paced in the Battle of the Snacks

TRACY, Calif. (Oct. 4, 2018) – Californian’s status as Team Sweet or Team Salty when it comes to snacking may be determined by geography, according to a new survey by Real California Milk. The survey, which examines statewide snacking preferences, reveals geographic and gender differences on taste, but an overall agreement on the importance of making healthy snacking choices.

Two La Quinta Students to Represent California at National Fuel Up to Play 60 Summit

(July 14, 2016) ­­– La Quinta Middle School scored a touchdown when two students were selected to represent the state of California at the 7th annual Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP 60) Student Summit in West Lafayette, Indiana. Kymani Nix and Karissa Gonzales were chosen to serve as ambassadors for healthy eating and physical activity for the 2016-2017 school year. FUTP 60 is a partnership between the National Football League (NFL) and the nation’s dairy farmers in cooperation with the U.S.

California Dairy Industry Contributes $21 Billion To State’s Economy, Stimulates Ripple Effect Of $65 Billion

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. & MODESTO, Calif., May 14, 2015 – Cementing its place as California’s most important agricultural commodity by farm revenue, California farms sold about $9.4 billion worth of milk while the dairy industry contributed approximately $21 billion in value added to the gross state product in 2014, according to a California Milk Advisory Board (CMAB) study conducted by the University of California Agricultural Issues Center (AIC).

Salted Caramel Ice Cream

Makes about: 1 ½ quarts | Active time: 15 to 20 minutes

2 cups California milk

2 cups California heavy cream

8 large egg yolks

1 ¼ cups granulated sugar

1 tablespoon sea salt such as Maldon sea salt or fleur de sel

 

1. In a 4-quart saucepan, combine milk and cream and heat over medium-high heat until just before boiling. Set aside.

Strawberries & Cream Gelato

Makes about: 1 ½ quarts | Active time: 20 to 15 minutes

Gelato Base (Cream)

4 cups California milk

1 1⁄2 cups granulated sugar

8 large egg yolks

1. In a 4-quart saucepan, combine milk and half of sugar. Set over high heat, and cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil, about 5 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, whisk yolks and remaining sugar until smooth, heavy, and pale yellow, about 30 seconds.
